DeepCTIS

What’s for dinner?

Seafood fraud is a major problem - including:

Labelling low-value species as more expensive ones. Selling cheaply farmed fish as more expensive wild-caught fish. Selling traditionally farm-raised fish as more valuable ecological or organic varieties.

DeepCTIS is handheld scanner using wide spectrum light sources and ML to identify fish species. It has the potential to be used in a wide variety of deployment environments.

Research - Personas

Can we gain insight into the product requirements by investigating the potential users of the system?

-Do we have a broad enough user base?

-How will the product be used and what what problem will it solve for the user?

-What implications will deployment environments have on the product design?

-How does the use-case impact the form-factor of the device.

Early Ideation

Early CAD - Wand Form-Factor

It was clear after prototyping this form factor it was not going to be ideal ergonomically.
